💧 Community meeting about Morningside flood relief project
Join us on Wednesday 7 May 2025 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at the Morningside Football Club.
🆕 Council has approved funding for the next stage of the project, which will further reduce the level of water accumulation in low lying areas of Morningside.
Construction for stage 2 will start in May 2025, beginning in the lowest lying areas up to more elevated areas, with completion expected in October 2025. This work will be carried out by contractors United Civil.
Intermittent traffic disruptions are likely on Morningside Road, Rawhiti Street and Jellicoe Street at various stages throughout the project. We will provide as much notice of these disruptions as possible.
The meeting is a chance to get a closer look at the project and what happens next, but you can also find information here:

Poll: Should we be giving the green light to new mining projects? 💰🌲
The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?
