Instead of disposing of them, we’d like to offer the surviving plants to attentive green-fingered gardeners to keep them growing. Keen to try your hand? Come and get some free, mature flowering plants at the times and places below:

🌷 Cafler Park, Friday 31 October from 9:30am: Cyclamen and Dianthus both mixed (pictured)
🌷 Town Basin by Hundertwasser, Wednesday 5 November from 9:3-am: Cyclamen (Rose and White) and Primrose (mixed shades)
🌷 Airport, Tuesday 11 November from 9:30am: Cyclamen (Violet and White)
🌷 Laurie Hall Park, Friday 21 November from 10:30am: Orange Geraniums and vegetables*
*Flowers will be available from the back of the Citycare truck in the carpark. Please help yourself to the vegetables on the top walk, any leftovers will be getting cleared out on Friday 5th of December and distributed back into the community. We will be planting hot chillies in there this summer to pick from.

The small print:
Bedding plants usually only flower for a season and then die down, but skilled gardeners can sometimes keep them looking good for a while longer. If you would like to try extending the summer flowers' lives, collect some and have a go.

We can't offer to hold plants for later collection – please just come along at the times above if you're keen.

Good People

The film night for Thursday 30th October for WFS will be in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre at Forum North, 7 Rust Ave Whangarei.

At 6pm, WFS will screen the Irish film, FOUR LETTERS OF LOVE, based on the best-selling book by Niall Williams and boasting an all star cast.

Our 8pm screening is the French comedy, A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA.

FOUR LETTERS OF LOVE
Ireland, Drama, 2024, 109 mins, Rated M
Cast: Helena Bonham-Carter, Pierce Brosnan, Gabriel Byrne.
Director: Polly Steel

Based on Niall Williams' best-selling novel of the same name, this is a multi narrative story where the lives and loves of the characters intertwine.

As a child, Nicholas sees his father (Pierce Brosnan) trade in his life of bureaucracy for a final chance to find joy through painting. This act of passion by his Dad inspires Nicholas to find happiness for himself. But whilst his heart belongs to Isabel, their quest to be together is anything but simple.

This is a powerful and beautifully shot story about love and how unseen forces and the realities of life may need to be overcome to find happiness.

"The casting is irresistible. Brosnan, Bonham-Carter and Byrne bring decades of craft to the table to breathe life into the best-selling novel by Niall Williams ." - IMDB

Showing at Forum North, 7 Rust Ave Whangarei on Thursday, 30th October at 6pm and Thursday, 6th November at 8pm
