The Best Local Art Works Go On Show

Wilson from Gulf Harbour

The Hibiscus Coast Estuary Arts Centre opens its members annual awards show tomorrow and remains open till the start of August. It is a great opportunity to acquire an affordable work of art from one of the many wonderful artists inhabiting our region -The range of work on show this year is incredibly diverse with great depth and range, according to the judge artist Lib Steward. So pop down, have a coffee, and take a look at the great work being done locally - admission is free! There may just be something there that will brighten up your world. (A little disclosure - I have three paintings entered! - they're the gaudy bright ones on the right of the pictures - not everyone's cup of tea but definitely mine)

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
