Takahe chicks thrive: Tiritiri Matangi Island
These new arrivals to Tiritiri Matangi Island are now one month old.
The Takahe chicks are growing quickly and thriving.
The feathered friends tend to stick close to the adults or hide under thicker vegetation.
But they are getting braver so some visitors may have the chance to spot them.
Visitors to the wildlife sanctuary north east of Auckland are asked to give the birds plenty of space and to avoid walking between adults and chicks.
