Solid Waste management - Rubbish and Recycling during COVID-19 Lockdown
🗑️ A reminder that normal kerbside refuse and greenwaste services will continue. Council ask that residents:
1️⃣ Please don't park in front of bins
2️⃣ Please don't position bins behind parked cars.
3️⃣ Please space the bins at least 30cm apart so the arm can reach them.
4️⃣ IMPORTANT: drivers are not allowed to handle bins or any waste. If they can't get to it, they won't pick it up.
♻️ Kerbside recycling will not be collected because recycling sorting plants are closing. Residents have the choice:
1️⃣ Keep recycling at home and deliver it to the refuse transfer station when it re-opens,
2️⃣ Put their yellow-lidded bin out for collection. Yellow-lidded bin contents will be taken to landfill if left out for collection.
3️⃣ Please note: Yellow lid bins should only be put out on the normal recycling collection days.
🍾 During this time Council are not emptying glass crates, you can:
1️⃣ Stock-pile glass
2️⃣ Put it in your general waste or yellow-lidded bins which will both be taken to landfill.
🙋 Residents with no kerbside services can take bagged household waste to bins provided at the transfer station gates. Note: no large items, greenwaste or loose rubbish will be accepted. Please respect this.
