Whakatāne Airport
🛬Update: Whakatāne Airport.
The airport remains OPEN for business but with restricted access for passengers, drop off and pick up. Flights are scheduled as normal. Security is in operation at the gate.
Geonet UPDATE
In this update, GeoNet advises that "the level of volcanic tremor continues to rise and there is medium likelihood of future eruptive activity in the next 24 hours. The Volcanic Alert Level remains at Level 3." Also, there is "an extremely low likelihood of any effects from the eruption on the mainland."

Power lines relocated for new bridge over Waikato River
Preparatory work has begun on what will be one of the longest bridges in Hamilton.
WEL Networks started relocating power lines on Tuesday to allow for construction of a bridge over the Waikato River to the Peacocke housing development.
