BOIL WATER NOTICE FOR 81 - 125 (odd numbered) and 90 - 118 (even numbered) MONTGOMERY AVE, ALL OF CATHIE PLACE, AND ALL OF STOCKDEN PLACE.

Kia ora Karori,

As part of a proactive and routine maintenance work, we’ve uncovered a dead bird at the Montgomery Avenue Reservoir, Karori.

Initial testing shows that there is residual chlorine which indicates there is a very low risk to public health.

However, as public health is a top priority, out of an abundance of caution, we’re issuing a boil water notice for the next 72 hours for properties at 81 - 125 (odd numbered) and 90 - 118 (even numbered) Montgomery Ave, all of Cathie Place, and all of Stockden Place as highlighted in the map attached.

Please boil your water before use as this is the best way to ensure the water is safe. Make sure you bring water to a rolling boil in a pot (where bubbles appear in the centre and do not disappear when the water is stirred) for three minutes.

Boiling will kill all disease-causing organisms.

Babies, young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people who have weakened immune systems are more at risk of illness. If you get diarrhoea, vomiting and/or a fever, get advice from your doctor or contact Healthline (0800 611 116).

We’ve informed the Ministry of Health of this incident and are continuing to carry out regular testing within the next 72 hours as per our standard procedure.

Since this discovery, the reservoir has been isolated from the network.

There is no impact to residents’ supply of water as we’ve isolated the reservoir and are supplying water from another area of the network.
We’ll keep you updated on the testing and any further information that come through.
