Dixon Street Deli closes after nearly 100 years
The delicatessen was a "complete Wellington institution", run by three generations of the Chait family at the same location. It was originally a poultry shop before it became a deli in the 70s, and one of your city councillors can even remember visiting the shop as a child to buy fresh chicken (a bit of a luxury back then).
