Major water outage - potable water available approx 2pm

The Team from Wellington Water

⚠SERVICE RESTORED – KINGSTON ⚠ Update 2.12pm
The team has made an awesome effort to fix the pipe and have now returned service to all.

They have also confirmed minimal impact to the stormwater network as a result of the burst.

Please run a cold tap to remove air pockets and cloudy water from their pipes before using hot taps, dishwashers and washing machines.

There will be no further updates as the team will be concentrating on the reinstatement and clean-up of the site.

Thank you for your patience and we apologise for the inconvenience.

⚠MAJOR WATER OUTAGE – KINGSTON ⚠
Unfortunately due to the nature of a burst water main burst in Quebec Street, the majority of Kingston will be without water while the team urgently carries out repairs. The properties affected are outlined in Orange in the map below.

At appox 2pm, a potable water tanker will drive around all the streets to assist residents with filling containers with water.

If you see him driving past your street please wave him down and he will pull over and fill up your containers.

There will also be bottled water available onsite outside 62 Quebec Street for any properties close to the water main repair.

Due to the size of the main there is a possibility that during the burst event, some silt got into the stormwater network. This may have made its way to the Owhiro stream.

Now that the team have isolated the main they will commence cleaning up any debris within road reserve and will install protection around the nearby sumps.
