Humanely dealing with pests this winter.

Kylie Klein Nixon Reporter from Homed

Have you ever had a pest problem? I used to have a pet rat. They are smart, affectionate, clever little things. I'd never want to cause one unnecessary pain or suffering, which is why we've chosen to manage pests in our home with traps. It's not ideal, but it's better - and safer - than poison. I've done a little research on humane, effective vermin control during the wet months, when they like to come in from the cold. Take a look:

Are passengers wearing masks and social distancing on our public transport?

The Team Reporter from Dominion Post

Morning neighbours,

How was your commute to work this morning? Was your bus, train or ferry emptier? Were passengers wearing masks and social distancing? For those driving into town, was traffic lighter for you? Or did you choose to work from home?

Physical distancing was reintroduced by Metlink on Wednesday, which meant commuters would have to keep 1 metre apart on buses, trains and ferries, and keep a 2m distance at wharfs and stations.

Metlink general manager Scott Gallacher said “there will be no timetable changes under alert level 2 but passengers will be expected to practice personal hygiene and physical distancing measures”.

False positive Covid-19 case in Wellington

The Team Reporter from Stuff

Hi nieghbours,

A case of Covid-19 picked up in Wellington has turned out to be a false alarm.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield on Thursday announced 13 new cases of community transmission in New Zealand – all outside Wellington.

But answering questions, he said there was a positive test that came up in Wellington. Re-testing came up negative, meaning it was a false-positive. To read more, click here

How have you reacted to the news

The Team Reporter from Dominion Post

Hi neighbours

The discovery of four Covid-19 cases outside of managed isolation on Tuesday has ended New Zealand's 102 day streak without community transmission. As a result, Auckland has returned to level 3, while the rest of New Zealand step back to level 2.

For those of us outside of Auckland, it means maintaining physical distancing of 2 metres, no more than 100 people at gatherings, and considering working from home if possible.

How have you reacted to the news? Are you now working from home? Are you wearing a face mask when you leave the house? And be honest, have you panic-bought toilet paper?

Stay safe everyone and take care of each other.
