RE: Silverstream Landfill odour complaints.
GWRC has completed an investigation into this odour and has determined that there was an environmental breach on 17 May 2019, as a result, we have issued a fine to Hutt City Council, and abatement notices to all the parties involved in the landfill operations.
The abatement notice is a legal notice outlining the seriousness of the offence, and supports our message that future breaches may be dealt with more severely. We are continuing to work with HCC and the other parties to ensure they operate within their consent.
