A School Holiday activitiy.
10am - 10.20 whānau 'Pūkana' exhibition tour.
10.30am - 12pm Poi making workshop.
Be inspired by a tour through the ‘Pūkana: moments in Māori performance’ exhibition and make your own poi to take home. Watch kapa haka tutor Moana Ormsby demonstrate poi and learn how to swirl them.
Bring the tamariki for a family-friendly tour by the learning team of the exhibition ‘Pūkana: moments in Maori performance’ at 10am. All ages with supervising adult welcome. The duration of the tour is 20 minutes.
Come along to a poi making workshop at 10.30am. This workshop is best suited for children 8 years and older. Caregivers can grab a coffee but are expected to supervise their children during the programme. We will make our own poi from t-shirts (bring an old t-shirt, if you can) and wool, then learn from Moana how to make them swirl. Moana Ormsby is the Kaiwhakaako at the National Library and kapa haka tutor. The learning team will make the Pūkana tour fun for tamariki.
