Do you support banning cars from the central city?

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

Wellington City Council is considering a plan to ban cars from the inner city by 2025.
A Notice of Motion by councillor Tamatha Paul is understood to have gained the support of a majority of councillors and will pass at a council meeting on Thursday.
The motion commits the council to pursue a fossil fuel-free centre city and asks for council officers to write a report investigating how the policy could be applied.
While details would be ironed out by council officers, Paul said she hoped for a ban on all private vehicles in key inner-city streets, with only electric delivery vehicles and buses allowed

Karori Lions recent E-Waste Recycling Day

Bulletin Editor from Karori Lions Club

Karori Lions wish to thank our community, and those from neighbouring communities, for your generosity. Last Saturday we ran our twice-yearly e-waste drop off collection at the Karori Community Centre, which proved to be as popular as ever. While volumes were not markedly up, many customers were exceptionally generous with the donations they made in return for leaving their unwanted electronic goods with us. All net proceeds from Lions projects are returned to the community. A double whammy here was that the company ultimately receiving the goods was Recycling for Charity, who make a contribution to charities from their profits derived from refurbishing or recycling the goods (in a guaranteed data secure and environmentally sound manner).

(Not A) Friday Feathered Friend

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

Technically it is not a Feathered Friend but this a lovely pic from Rosa Marie after her recent visit to Zealandia. Weta used to be much more common, when was the last time you saw a weta in your garden?

SPCA Pet of the Day: Meet Miriam

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

This week we feature Miriam.
"I am currently in a foster home with my sisters, and my foster mum says I am timid but become friendly with time and patience... can you give that to me? I would do best in a quiet and stable home, with people around to offer me support. I would not settle with a busy home or one with young children. I am quite a chatter box and have a very playful side. If this sounds like your kind of cat , please get in touch and we will put you in touch with my foster mum."
