Know your neighbours
Police are noticing a group of offenders operating within Wellington city. These offenders are tailgating residents into their buildings that have some form of controlled access, and then go on to commit crime once inside.
To prevent you, or your neighbours, becoming victims of crime please do the following:
- Ensure doors are closed behind you once you have entered.
- Question an unknown person’s authority for entry i.e. ask them to show their access/swipe card for the building.
- Clear letter boxes
- Arrange for a secure area for Courier packages to be dropped off
Police encourage residents to call us right away if they notice any suspicious people hanging around their properties.

The Ministry of Social Development is reporting that fake information is circulating about new ‘December bonuses’ or ‘benefit increases’
