There's still time to try out some Spin Poi this week!
Three more Intro to Spin Poi classes lined up, and one Open class if you've played with poi before. All are free or koha. No need to book, just turn up. Poi provided. Although they are Seniors week events, all ages are welcome.
* Thursday, 12 Nov, 4pm - Intro to Spin Poi - Kilbirnie Community Centre (temporary premises behind Farmers) - if you can't make it for 4pm, I will be doing a short taster at 3.30pm as well.
* Thursday, 12 Nov, 5pm - Spin Poi Open class (ongoing) - Kilbirnie Community Centre
* Friday, 13 Nov, 11.30am - Intro to Spin Poi - Karori Community Centre
* Saturday, 14 Nov, 10am - Intro to Spin Poi - Strathmore Park Community Centre
SpinPoi can be done sitting or standing and is suitable for almost everyone. Inspired by traditional poi, it has been adapted by Dr Kate Riegle van West to be a safe and effective exercise, especially for older populations. On top of the usual benefits of exercise, typically people will see improvements in grip strength, attention, focus, balance and coordination. For more information on SpinPoi, and to see people playing with poi, go to www.spinpoi.com...

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
