I have been following articles on the proposed cycle ways in Wellington City recently. It seems to me that the Council are focusing on areas that don’t actually require new cycle ways and are neglecting safety issues for cyclists and pedestrians by failing to come up with a solution to cross Cobham Drive safely near the ASB.
The ASB is well used by many children during the week and even more heavily utilized over the weekend. Currently there is no safe way to cross from Cobham drive to the ASB directly without a car. A safe crossing needs to be implemented for the safety of everyone. This could be done by utilizing the Troy St roundabout as a midway point for a walkway /cycle way between the A.S.B, the fire station, and Cobham Drive.

Past buyers have used the sale to find the best book deals, to complete their personal collections or just to rummage … View moreEvery year thousands of avid readers and movie & music lovers gather at Central Library for our book sales. Judging by their past popularity, this sale should be no different. Past buyers have used the sale to find the best book deals, to complete their personal collections or just to rummage and find a gem. And the sale helps our libraries by making room for an ever increasing collection.
Highlights of this two-week sale include a great range of non-fiction, supported by a wide variety of DVDs and CDs. As at each previous event, stock is replenished at regular intervals ensuring there are always fresh bargains to be found. And they really are bargains – prices start from 50 cents for magazines,while adult fiction, young adult/teens books and most other items are between $1 and $6.
If you love a bargain, you won’t want to miss it. The book sale starts Tuesday 5 December at 9.30am, Central Library.
Did you know around 800 plastic straws are given out weekly by some Wellington bars and restaurants? Many of these straws are winding up on our beaches. Would you like to see bars & restaurants get rid of plastic straws?
