Public Holidays

The Team from Citizens Advice Bureau Marlborough

Tūhuratia ō motika! | Discover your rights! Your employer can only make you work on a public holiday if the holiday falls on a day you normally work. Your employment agreement should also say that you will have to work on a public holiday. If your employment agreement doesn't require you to work on a public holiday and it is a day you would otherwise work, then you are entitled to take the holiday as paid time off (or you can work on that day if you agree to it).
