If you love working with people and want to tautoko (support) your community, the CAB could be a great place for you to volunteer.

CAB volunteers deliver our service of information and advice to the public so that people can find a way forward with the questions, issues and challenges they are facing.

As a CAB volunteer, you would have the chance to make a difference in people’s lives through your mahi aroha (voluntary work). You would get to be part of an organisation that not only assists the people who use our service, but that also benefits the wider community. This is because CAB uses the insights, we gain from our mahi to advocate for laws, policies and services that protect and support peoples’ human rights and wellbeing.

We give our volunteers great training to be able to deliver the CAB service, and if you volunteer with us, you will gain valuable learning and experience through working with clients, as well as the benefits of working alongside a diverse group of committed volunteers, making a positive impact together.

Hono mai! Join us! Come and be part of the CAB - an organisation that offers the community real support from real people.

Despite how much information is available in the online world, and regardless of our online skills and access, sometimes we just need a real person we can speak with to help us work through the questions, issues or challenges we’re facing.

The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is somewhere people can go to get real support from a real person – support that is free, confidential, and non-judgemental.

Our volunteers deliver our service of information and advice to the public, and they receive great training to be able to do this. They will listen to you and tautoko (support) you with the information you need to help you understand your rights and options and to figure out your next steps. They can connect you with the specialist services you may need.

Whether the issue you’re facing is about renting, employment, a relationship matter, an immigration issue or a consumer problem – whatever it might be – we’re here to support you. Come talk to us!
You don’t have to be a New Zealand citizen or resident to receive our assistance. We’re here for everyone.

No matter who you are; if you need support and don’t know who to ask – ask us!

It’s CAB Awareness Week! This is when we put a spotlight on the CAB to celebrate our mahi and highlight to the community the support and services we offer.

This year’s theme is ‘Tūturu te tangata, tūturu te tautoko – real people, real support. It reflects the fact that the CAB is a place where people can get help from a real person who will assist them with the questions, issues or challenges they are facing.

We are able to offer this person-to-person assistance because of our trained volunteers working out of our office [offices] here in [location]. Our volunteers are the people who deliver our service of information and advice to the public. They volunteer for the CAB because they want to support and empower people and make a difference in people’s lives.

If you need support and don’t know who to ask, or if you would like to give back to the community through volunteering with an organisation whose mahi assists people individually and also benefits the wider community, CAB could be the place for you.

You can contact us by calling our free CAB phone number 0800 367 222, by dropping in to see us at 25 Alfred Street, Blenheim (no appointment needed), or by contacting us via our CAB website at cab.org.nz.
