On Monday afternoon by the Weir at Waimanu Lagoons a swan was killed & chucked into the lagoon! By the pics I took it looked like the swan had been savaged by a dog but I can't 100% confirm that coz I didn't witness it happening. There was no blood trail from the incident to where I got the swan out of the water that's why I'm saying it was chucked in the water. The Waimanu Lagoons are an ON-LEAD area for dogs & this is one of the reasons why! Please be respectful of that & have your dogs ON-LEAD & also don't be offended if a member of the public asks you to do it if your dog isn't on a lead, you're the ones breaking the law! If in the remote chance it was hit by a car you need to be slowing your speed down. Either scenario shouldn't be happening around the lagoons. If anyone was a witness to what happened please feel free to private message me on neighbourly. We need to show the wildlife around the lagoons more respect and care!
Pro Tip #No6 LAWN CARE NUTS. Nows a good time to put down a slow release fertilizer. None of cheap weed and feed that you spray on with hose from from big box retailers either. #Andersons fertilizer

We live in Rimu Road Raumati Beach. Today just after 2pm an older woman with dark hair (possibly of Asian descent) driving a very dark brown - almost black Mazda Demio - registration number GTU 386 walked onto our property and proceeded to take photo's of the house and grounds. When asked by our son what she was doing, she said - "taking photo's" and very quickly got back into her vehicle and drove away. If anyone has more information on who this might be we'd be glad to hear from you as we will be reporting this to police.
