Dead Swan Waimanu Lagoon
I've been trying to post with pics since Monday hoping it works this time... On Monday afternoon by the Weir at Waimanu Lagoons a swan was killed & chucked into the lagoon! By the pics I took it looked like the swan had been savaged by a dog but I can't 100% confirm that coz I didn't witness it happening. There was no blood trail from the incident to where I got the swan out of the water that's why I'm saying it was chucked in the water. The Waimanu Lagoons are an ON-LEAD area for dogs & this is one of the reasons why! Please be respectful of that & have your dogs ON-LEAD & also don't be offended if a member of the public asks you to do it if your dog isn't on a lead, you're the ones breaking the law! If in the remote chance it was hit by a car you need to be slowing your speed down. Either scenario shouldn't be happening around the lagoons. If anyone was a witness to what happened please feel free to private message me on neighbourly. We need to show the wildlife around the lagoons more respect and care!
