A FUN PROJECT FOR THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Here's a fun activity for budding photographers during the school holidays! The Kapiti Branch of the NZ Camellia Society is holding a PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION for SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN in conjunction with their Annual Show on August 17th. The requirement is for a coloured photograph of one or more camellia flowers (details are in the document below). The flowers don't have to be on a tree or in a vase - there is scope to be creative!
Wonderful prizes to be won. Why not bring along a Camellia to display in the Novice Class as well.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
