My pick for brand of the week goes to Much Moore Premium Vanilla Ice Cream. That's right folks, unhealthy, sugar-rich ice cream. I'm pleased to report it doesn't contain sulphites though, or any other preservatives, and at 4.9gms of saturated fat per serving, its tolerable as a … View moreMy pick for brand of the week goes to Much Moore Premium Vanilla Ice Cream. That's right folks, unhealthy, sugar-rich ice cream. I'm pleased to report it doesn't contain sulphites though, or any other preservatives, and at 4.9gms of saturated fat per serving, its tolerable as a once in a while treat (compared to say 12 gms of saturated fat for a mince pie). Eating it with yogurt toppings and fruit reduces the overall fat content too, if you are concerned.
Given that you are buying ice cream anyway, I recommend this one. In a 1 litre cardboard pack it is environmentally friendly, easy to use and tastes great. I no longer struggle with rock hard plastic tubs out of the freezer but can easily slice off a serve from the cardboard pack. With a vanilla sandwich stye slice, it can be decorated with other toppings to look restaurant quality. When finished I rinse off the inner package and put it in my cardboard recycling. No more plastic tubs to the tip. Its economical too. $2.80 from Pak in Save, $3.00 from Countdown (did I mention there's no sulphites?) its a convenient way to budget the weekly/fortnightly shop. I challenge all other ice cream manufacturers to switch to cardboard packaging and reduce the amount of plastic going to landfill. This recommendation is given independently, with no sponsorship, contractual bias or loads of free ice cream.

Play is set up or available throughout the session and includes areas such as playdough, arts and crafts, collages, painting, baking, storytime, puzzles, dress-ups, role playing, sandpit, confidence course, waterplay etc. We love going on trips out into the community and examples of past trips are: Harcourt Park, Wellington Zoo, fire station, Upper Hutt Library Storytime, and Avalon Park bike track.
All visitors are welcome to come along and see what we do before enrolling at our centre. So if you and your child(ren) would like to be part of our Playcentre whānau give us a call for some more information. We look forward to meeting you. We offer 3 free visits before you join.

Due to the closure Metlink will have a shuttle bus operating from Hornsey Road through to Rodrigo Road and back, performing a loop service for customers living in Melrose.
The shuttle will mirror the Route 23 frequency and will drop off / pick up customers from Stop #7931 on Houghton Bay Road at Hornsey Road and Stop #6931 on Houghton Bay Road at Hornsey Road (near 57) enabling you to then board the Route 23 bus.
Know before you go. Plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey during work hours during these dates.

Our waterways and all the fish and species that live in them are precious taonga, so we have set out to understand how they are valued and what should be done to provide the future we want for our water.
My wife and I have been living at the edge of Belmont Park for over 30 years and I consider it my responsibility to pass on a sustainable healthy catchment to my grandchildren. We can’t do this alone and need your help in protecting the health and mauri of our water.
Increasing population and changing land use is putting pressure on our water, from our rivers and streams to the supply of drinking water, and management of storm and waste water. Fixing these problems is going to cost a lot, and we need to find solutions that are fair and equitable based on sound evidence and knowledge.
To do this we need to understand your views and to work with you and your community. Let’s shape the future of this place and our precious freshwater together.

The Karori Stream that flows through my backyard serves as a reminder to me every single day on the importance of making our waterways healthy. We need your help in protecting the health and mauri of our waterways, which are under pressure from increasing population. We need solutions that require real change in the way we interact with water if we want it to be safe for our kids. And we need to think long-term about how and who pays for these solutions.
