South Waikato's new deputy mayor, Bill Machen, was once a council hater. He said he used to tell previous mayors "Hey, I'm the guy who watches you throw ratepayers' money out the bloody window".
He now says that "From the inside, he now knows things are not so straightforward". What do you think of his appointment? Do you think he's a good fit?
