Public toilets
The Northern news has put an article on the state of cleanliness on public toilets in the Far North. Kaitaia has one in town and one at Awanui, that I know of. This week I used the Kaitaia ones. You can hardly blame the Council for the state of these. One water system was smashed off the wall plus seat, rubbish was thrown everywhere as well as dirty nappy’s. A shower they first locked but broken into is now open all the time for public use. Some people are pigs and don’t seem to care. I wish I’d taken a photo.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
