Meet Gideon!

The Team from Neighbours Day Aotearoa

MEET GIDEON ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ our Neighbours Day Aotearoa Community Connector based in Te Moana-a-Toi / Bay of Plenty.
Gideon has called Mount Maunganui home since the beginning of 2020 and there's no place he'd rather be - less traffic and access to the most glorious nature in Aotearoa!
"I am an advocate for the community and believe food is what brings us together! I value the importance of food as the primary tool for the re-education of our children and how we engage with our everyday world. Oh, and I was also Masterchef 2015 Top 16 finalist, which is part of the reason I have found my purpose and calling in this food journey!" Gideon

Keen to take part in Neighbours Day Aotearoa and based in the Bay of Plenty? Gideon can support you ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you think?

Did you know over a quarter of us who now call Aotearoa New Zealand home were born overseas? We have one of the highest populations of people born outside NZ in the OECD and collectively we speak more than 160 different languages.

We want to understand what you think about Aotearoa New Zealandโ€™s increasing multicultural society and the benefits and challenges that it brings and to say thanks for completing the survey, you can go in the draw to win a share of prizes. T&Cs apply.

Change your bins

Barry from Papamoa Beach

If you find that the kerbside collection bins provided by the council are too large or too small for your household use you can switch to smaller bins and receive a $30 discount in your annual rates or get larger bins and pay an extra $100 a year. Google "Change your bin size Tauranga" to find the form on the council website. Your order has to be in before the 31st of May and your new bins should arrive before the 1st of July.

Also, on the website you can make a complaint about damaged bins or missed collections. In my book, missed collections includes bins not emptied properly. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the collection service I suggest that you use the "Additional comments" section of the website to make your feelings known.
