How dare you ... 😡🤬

Fiona from Henderson

I'M ABSOLUTLEY FUMING!🤬

Our friend who is an elderly gentleman has just returned back to his home yesterday after being at our place only to be informed by his friend/neighbour that he had just chased off 3 men who had stripped our friend's plum tree.

So to the 3 men who did this, then jumped the fence and ran off when you were caught - you are on NOTICE!!!
The Police have been notified now and someone up Sturgess Road will have security cameras that may've captured your images.
Our friend's neighbour knows what you look like!!

You all stripped the front of the tree on the public side, which is not nice but understandable as it's planted on private property but leaning over onto the public area.
But then all 3 of you thieves went onto his private property and stripped his trees.
HOW DARE YOU!!!!!😡😡😡

He is now so worried that a couple who asked if they could buy some plums from him a few days back, have sent others around for more 'freebies'.

He is very proud of his garden and so much work and time has gone into it. His generosity is well known to those who know him and also strangers he meets along the way.
People knock on his door all the time and ask for some fruit. He will always give them some fruit and maybe an extra item or two from his garden.

To say that he will share the shirt off his back is an understatement; he will share what he has in the garden to anyone who asks.

All you had to do is ask him or leave a note in his letterbox with your contact details on and he would've got back to you.

HOW DARE YOU THINK THAT ANYTHING ON OTHER PEOPLE'S PROPERTY IS YOURS!!!
IT'S 100% TRESSPASSING AND THEFT!!😡😡

Stealing off someone who is struggling is DISGUSTING!

I can only hope that the karma bus (or the Police) is on its way to these 3 despicable men.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves for stealing off an old man - ASHAMED!!!😡🤬

And the 2024 Prospa Local Business Hero is...

Prospa

A huge congratulations to mother and son duo, Mary and Sam Danielson from The Puketapu Hotel.

The votes for all finalists have been tallied and they have been chosen by Neighbourly members across the country as the Prospa Local Business Hero of 2024.

The Puketapu Hotel was nominated by a local called Margaret and the nomination reads:
'On Feb 14, 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle flooded many of the rural areas. Puketapu Hotel went under perhaps half a meter of water. However, immediately Mary Danielson and her son, Sam Danielson, along with their loyal staff pulled it together to cook copious amounts of food that without electricity would have been wasted. Throughout the years many of us have been treated with a pub gathering where we can reconnect and a free meal. At Christmas there was Santa, games, gifts for kids, donated patchwork for adults, an ice cream truck and lots of camaraderie.
This February on the cyclone anniversary, they again pulled out the stops to give hundreds of us a special night. We are all tired of the cyclone cleanup and they understood that it was needed.'

Such a deserving business and team, well done Mary and Sam. And thank you to all those who voted!

Tips on Incorporating Sustainable Bedroom Furniture into Your Living Space

Beds4U Henderson

When making our homes comfortable, we also want to think about how our choices affect the environment.

That's why it's important to consider the furniture we use, especially in our bedrooms.

Let's talk about sustainable bedroom furniture and how it can fit into your life.

Eco-Friendly Furniture

Choosing eco-friendly furniture is more than just a trend; it's a commitment to sustainability and responsible living.

But what is Eco-Friendly Furniture?

Eco-friendly furniture, also known as sustainable furniture, is designed and manufactured with the planet in mind, minimising environmental impact while maximising style and functionality.

It’s crafted from materials and produced using processes that have minimal negative effects on the environment.

This includes utilizing renewable resources, recycled materials, and sustainable manufacturing practices.

By opting for eco-friendly furniture, you reduce your carbon footprint and support industries prioritizing environmental stewardship.

Materials Matter

So, what makes furniture eco-friendly?

One of the key elements of eco-friendly furniture is the materials used in its construction. Sustainable options often include:

Wood. Look for furniture made from sustainably sourced wood. These woods are harvested in a way that maintains the health of forests and ecosystems.

Recycled Materials. Furniture crafted from recycled materials, such as reclaimed wood or recycled plastics, gives new life to old resources, reducing the need for new materials and diverting waste from landfills.

Natural Fibers. Upholstered furniture made from natural fibers like organic cotton, hemp, or bamboo reduces the environmental impact compared to synthetic materials and minimizes exposure to harmful chemicals.

It's also important to pick furniture that's built to last. When you invest in quality pieces, you're not only reducing waste but also saving money in the long run.

Sustainable Manufacturing Practices

In addition to using eco-friendly materials, sustainable furniture manufacturers prioritize environmentally conscious production methods. This includes:

Energy Efficiency. Manufacturers invest in energy-efficient technologies and practices to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions during the production process.

Waste Reduction. Minimizing waste through efficient manufacturing processes and recycling or repurposing materials helps conserve resources and reduce landfill waste.

Fair Labor Practices. Sustainable furniture companies often prioritize fair labor practices, ensuring that workers are treated ethically and paid fair wages throughout the supply chain.

Sustainable Bedroom Meets Style

You might think that eco-friendly furniture means sacrificing style, but that's not the case anymore.

Today, sustainable bedroom furniture comes in all sorts of stylish designs.

Whether you like the classic look of wooden furniture or the modern feel of sleek designs, there's something eco-friendly for everyone's taste.
