Friends of Alice Eaves Bush Workday
Friends of Alice Eaves Bush were grateful for fine weather on Saturday 5 May and Saturday 2 June which enabled the group to carry out essential maintenance in the park. On May 5th the group cleared the drains running under the tracks. This allows runoff from winter rains to get away without damaging the tracks. Clearing these drains is quite a big job so fortunately there was a good turnout of members that day. On June 2 the group repainted the fence and bridge at the Old North Road entrance to the park.(Our thanks to Bunnings for supplying the paint- much appreciated!)

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Auckland Harbour Bridge summer works
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is carrying out essential maintenance on the Auckland Harbour Bridge this December and January. The southbound clip-on lanes will be closed (24/7) from 26 December to 5 January for road resurfacing. Night-time lane restrictions will be in place throughout the summer for recoating work on the bridge. Traffic will still be able to travel in both directions at all times.
