Hello Neighbours

With much regret and as we temporarily relocate to the UK our darling Rosie is looking for someone that can love her just as much as we do.

A beautiful soul, that found her way to our door step looking undernourished and in need of some cuddles, 2 years ago. We tried hard to search for her old owner, but with no microchip and response to neighbourly posts we feared she was very likely left to fend for herself. Since we decided to adopt her she has been the most amazing and curious cat that enjoys some space but is observant from afar (she loves to get onto our roof and watch the world go by). She is very outdoorsy and loves to swap between shade and the sun. The vets believe she is in her senior years and about 10-12 years old.

She wants very little more than a place to catch some sun, 2 square meals a day and the occasional cuddle and stroke to let you know how thankful she is. She was the best big sister to her little brother Jim and despite the age gap she responded to his playfulness with calm.

Our little princess would love a nice quiet life with a loving owner. She never scratches, she never claws and is the most docile lady we know. Please let us know if you are interested in taking on Rosie temporarily (12 months) or permanently as soon as possible. We would love to organise introductions.

Thanks for your help, Dion

Efforts to gain an interim enforcement order to stop the felling of a 150-year-old Norfolk pine in north Auckland have been rejected by the Environment Court.
The Snells Beach community have been fighting to save the tree since blocking contractors from cutting it down in August.

It sits on what will be reserve land in a 33-home development by Vavasour Investments.
Michele MacKenzie of Warkworth applied for the order ex parte - without notice to any other party - to stall Vavasour from cutting the tree down while Auckland Council processed an application to protect it, based on significant and relevant information that was not taken into account by the council when granting resource consent.
Judge David Kirkpatrick noted the process of adding the tree to the schedule of notable trees in the Auckland Unitary Plan would require a change to the plan under the Resource Management Act.

"That process will take some time and requires public notification.
But there is no good reason to make an order based on that," he said.

What do you think? Should the tree be cut down?
