MetService has issued the following:
Heavy rain warning for Fiordland:
Valid: 22 hours from 3:00am Wednesday to 1:00am Thursday.
Forecast: Wednesday morning and early afternoon the heaviest rain is expected south of Doubtful Sound. After about 3pm Wednesday the heaviest rain is expected.
Heavy rain watch for Southland:
Valid: 18 hours from 5:00am to 11:00pm Wednesday.
Forecast: Rain, heavy at times with peak intensities possibly reaching 10 to 15mm per hour. Rainfall accumulations may reach the warning criteria.
Strong Wind Watch for Southland and Fiordland:
Valid: 16 hours from 11:00pm Tuesday to 3:00pm Wednesday.
Forecast: There is a possibility that northwest gales will be severe at times in exposed places.
An update for severe weather will be issued by 9:00pm tonight.
