Waimea Dam 25 million cost over run
How are other ratepayers feeling about this recent announcement that ratepayers in the Tasman region are being lined up for funding a further 25 million towards a dam for a few large irrigators on the Waimea Plains. In less than 3 years Ratepayers contribution has esculated from $26.8 million to $61.8 million. A 130% increase. Councillors have indicated that this is not the end of the cost over runs. Ratepayers are being used as a bottomless purse to subsidise commercial irrigation on the Plains. Time to call a HALT to this now and for a full review of this reckless folly.
