Hedges blocking footpaths
I've started doing regular walks around our beautiful suburb, but I get really annoyed at the times I come across an overgrown hedge/shrubbery blocking the footpath. In some places the path is just about completely blocked. Yes, I can walk on the grass verge to get around it, but I shouldn't have to. I'm sure mums with pushchairs, walkers, runners and cyclists would agree that it would be nice to be able to stay on the designated walkway. I'd like to see some sort of "Clear pathway" by-law that puts the onus on the property owner/resident to keep the pathway clear. The council seems to do a pretty good job of keeping the walking tracks clear so maybe we can do our bit as well! What do you think, fellow pavement beaters?

Poll: Would you participate in local initiatives aimed at stopping plastic from reaching our oceans?
Volunteers will be scouring the foreshore, riverbanks, and islands for rubbish on Saturday the 13th as part of the Clean Up the Hutt event.
This initiative helps stop plastic from reaching our oceans and makes our waterways cleaner and safer for everyone.
We want to know: Should this be rolled out across all coastal cities in Aotearoa? And more importantly… would you get involved? 💚
