Friends of Taupō Swamp
On Saturday, 10 October 2020, about thirty-five people, Rotarians, Friends of Taupō Swamp, Councillors Euon Murrell and Ross Leggett, Council staff, their families, and friends, met at Plimmerton Domain and carried out a variety of tasks. About 1,300 plants are now in the ground. Euon passed on the good wishes of the Mayor who was unfortunately unable to come.
Barry McEwen asked for volunteers to come along again this Saturday, 17 October when he hopes that about 1,000 more will be planted. These will be Flax, Carrex and toi toi, none of which need to be protected so the work will be quicker.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
