Poachers on Mellons Bay Beach
There are a male and female Chinese couple who are regularly stealing the rock oysters from Mellons Bay Beach.
They have been warned by beach lovers many times.
Yesterday the woman took 3/4 carrier bags full away off the beach. I stopped the male and took another full bag from him.
The limit is 50 per person per day,
Fisheries are aware and have photos and videos of the individuals, What we do not have so far is a car number plate.
If you are there at low tide please watch out for them at the far end of the beach. Do not confront them but if you can get a number plate do call fisheries.
We need to protect our beaches and residents from all greedy people.
Thank you.

Poll: Would you participate in local initiatives aimed at stopping plastic from reaching our oceans?
Volunteers will be scouring the foreshore, riverbanks, and islands for rubbish on Saturday the 13th as part of the Clean Up the Hutt event.
This initiative helps stop plastic from reaching our oceans and makes our waterways cleaner and safer for everyone.
We want to know: Should this be rolled out across all coastal cities in Aotearoa? And more importantly… would you get involved? 💚
