Hundreds potentially scammed by fake deaf charity fundraisers
People have been handing out poorly written cards with the sign language alphabet in exchange for cash - but they have nothing to do with any deaf charities.
"We know that they've been in different parts of Wellington [and] Auckland," said Rachel Noble from Deaf Action New Zealand.
She says a similar scam happened in the 1990s, and legitimate groups almost ended up having to pay for the crime. Read more

Police are seeking the public’s assistance to locate missing person Ella, who has not been seen since Saturday 27 December. Ella was last seen wearing grey pants, a pink shirt and slide-on slippers.
