Phone scam re Police and IRD

We had a automated phone call today to our home line saying it was the Police calling and mentioned something about and IRD number and being taken to court and for you to call some phone number which was repeated twice at the end of the call. I went to the Police station to find out what it was about and they informed me it was a hoax call so I said I would spread the word on neighborly.
