ROAD CLOSURES LOWER HUTT
Reminder: From tonight, your journeys around Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai ā Lower Hutt will change. Weāre closing several roads to allow us full access to the areas where weāll be building the new SH2 interchange at Melling and bridge over Te Awa Kairangi - Hutt River.
š§ Queens Drive will close between Rutherford Street and High Street
š§ Pharazyn Street will close from near Marsden Street to Block Road until approximately 2029
š§ Block Road, the old Melling station car park, Melling Park and Ride and the northern section of the Riverbank car park will be permanently closed.
Weāll also have overnight closures in place for approximately six nights on the section of Rutherford Street between Melling Link and Queens Drive, as well as some overnight lane closures around the Melling intersection on SH2.
Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys as you move around the city.
Closing these areas will give us space to move and build the new train station, shift utilities, make improvements to surrounding roads and improve the ground to support the new bridge and interchange.
