The proposed average rate increase
for the next four years for ratepayers is 5.25 per cent after allowing 1.0 per cent for growth. The council says it's to pay for the Transmission Gully Motorway link roads and "smoothing the peaks and troughs" that will occur over the next four years as it balances its budget by 2021/22.
