One-of-a-kind $15,000 bike yet to be located by police

Doug Sail Reporter from The Timaru Herald

Police have yet to locate an ironman athlete's $15,000 bike after it was stolen just four weeks out from his world championships debut.

Timaru's Reon Park was left horrified on Tuesday after discovering someone had broken into the bike room at his home and stolen his custom time trial bike.

The 47-year-old is set to compete at his first Ironman World Championships in Hawaii on October 14. An ironman encompasses a 3.8-kilometre swim, a 180km bike and a 42km run.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Callon, of Timaru, said the investigation was ongoing but urged people to be on the lookout for the "high value" bike. Police ask anyone with information to please contact Timaru Police on 03 687 9808 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
