Appeal following crashes in Timaru

Police investigating a double fatal crash north of Timaru are seeking help from the public.

Emergency services were called to the crash involving a car and a truck on State Highway 1, near Brosnan Road, about 5:10pm yesterday.

Police investigating a double fatal crash north of Timaru are seeking help from the public.

Emergency services were called to the crash involving a car and a truck on State Highway 1, near Brosnan Road, about 5:10pm yesterday.
Sadly, two people died at the scene, while another was airlifted to hospital in serious condition.

As part of ongoing enquiries, Police are appealing to the public for anything which may assist.

The white truck was heading south, while the silver station-wagon was heading north.

There was a separate crash before the fatal crash, involving other vehicles, about 500m north of the scene on SH1 which caused traffic to backup.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw this crash.

Police are following strong lines of enquiry into the shooting in Wainoni, Christchurch, which occurred on Monday evening, 10 November.

Police would like to reassure the community this is believed to be an isolated incident with no increased risk to the public.

The victim sustained a single gunshot and is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police are concerned around the dangerous and violent act in public and have an increased presence in and around Christchurch as officers carry out reassurance patrols.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Police on 105, quoting file number 251110/6195.

Police are investigating after a woman suffered what appears to be a serious gunshot wound in Wainoni, Christchurch.

Police and ambulance were called to a Shortland Street property about 8:45pm last night, and on arrival found the woman in critical condition.

A scene guard has remained in place overnight, and enquiries are ongoing today to locate the person responsible, who left the scene in a vehicle.

Members of the public can expect a Police presence in the area to remain while these enquiries take place.
