The Government has come to the party and announced funding to finish the ASB Theatre, in Blenheim.

Kaikoura MP Stuart Smith made the announcement on Thursday: to provide $900,000 from the Regional Culture and Heritage Fund.

The Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust will use the money to finish the smaller Anderson Theatre, the last piece of the multimillion-dollar building yet to be completed.

Vice chairman Peter Mark said designs still had to be completed and the project put out to tender, but said he hoped it would be finished by March or April next year.

We're a vibrant, friendly singing group for all ability levels, with songs from around the world and from all eras. Sing for hope! Sing for power! Sing for life! Songs are taught by ear and gradually layered into sublime harmony. We've just returned from two thrilling candlelit concerts in Nelson involving 8 community choirs with 200+ voices from the Top of the South. There was a lot of laughter and fun preparing and participating. Now we're beginning a new bracket of rounds and songs, so it's a good time to join. Ring Pam Nicholls for more information on 021 046 4841.
