Youth & Search Rescue Trust - Tauranga
14 to 18 year old students from the whole Bay of Plenty are trained in volunteering and helping rescue people. They learn First Aid, searching in urban and back country situations, water safety, leadership and many more amazing life changing subjects. This organisation receives no government funding and relies on grants and donations to train these amazing young people. VOTE NOW!

Seddon Community and Neighbourhood Support Group
Seddon is our small rural township located to the south of Blenheim on SH1. Rocked and devastated (again) by the quakes in November 2016. With the loss of access to Christchurch via the Main North Line, and SH 1, we are at the “end of the line”. Every one of our self employed residents has taken a huge hit, many of whom can no longer support themselves especially with the removal of all emergency funding as of the 14th February. we are hoping to be able to provide to the whole community, access to essential first aid kits at reasonable and affordable costs to all the residents. It is for this initiative we are seeking some funding in order to subsidise these kits. VOTE NOW!!

TCDC Roads:

Wentworth Valley Road, Whangamata - surface water flooding - 4x4 & trucks only
Avalon Place, Whangamata - slip - limited access
Rangihau Road, Coroglen - road wash out - road closed
NZTA Roads:

SH25 bypass road, Whangamata - slips - road still closed.
We've got our contractors out and about clearing slips and debris.

Remember kerbside collections (blue bags only) for Coromandel Town and surrounds that didn't happen on Wednesday because of the bad weather will be collected tomorrow (Saturday) instead.

Meanwhile there's power outages currently at Opito, Otama and Kuaotunu which should be resolved by lunchtime today.

The weather is overcast right now but no heavy rain. Metservice are saying more rain for later tonight, but not as much as what we've experienced in the last couple of days.

So just take care driving those roads and check the weather on the way but the Coromandel is open for visits.

Here's an update on some water, power and rubbish collection issues.

1. PURIRI is experiencing low pressure and our contractors are checking the pump station but there could be difficulty with access due to the high stream levels. to filters blocked at our station.

2. MATATOKI has water and system is currently coping.

3. OMAHU we are also checking low pressure.

Due to power outages and heavy rain some of the pump stations at our waste water treatment plants are under pressure and we're asking people not to flush toilets if they can help it in Tairua, Pauanui, Onemana and Whangamata .

Meanwhile our rubbish collection trucks are unable to get to Coromandel Town and surrounds, as well as Thames and Thames Coast and Manaia due to flooding so expect that your rubbish may not get collected today. If that is the case we will arrange another pick up as soon as possible.

Refuse Transfer Stations at Whangamata and Pauanui are closed today due to flooding as well.

Civil Defence centres are on standby to accommodate people needing assistance if required at the Whangamata Hall and the Pauanui Community Centre.

State Highway 25 is closed in several places:

· State Highway 25 Kopu to Thames. Closed because of flooding.

· State Highway 25 Whiritoa closed due to a slip.

· State Highway 25 Tairua is closed between Tairua and State Highway 25a.

People should avoid all non-essential travel in the Coromandel.

We are asking schools to post on our Facebook page whether they will be closing today and/or whether their school bus service is running this afternoon.
