Check it's safe before you swim

The Team from Kāpiti Coast District Council

Water quality at our district's rivers and beaches is generally pretty good over summer. Our monitored sites are currently green (suitable for swimming), but do check LAWA before you jump in, and remember to:

💧 wait 2–3 days after rain before swimming, and avoid river mouths and stormwater outlets on our beaches
💧 keep an eye out for toxic algae during summer, dogs are particularly at risk while scavenging at the river’s edge.

And make sure you do summer right by checking if your favourite swimming spots are safe for swimming 👉🏼 www.lawa.org.nz...

Poll: Would you participate in local initiatives aimed at stopping plastic from reaching our oceans?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Volunteers will be scouring the foreshore, riverbanks, and islands for rubbish on Saturday the 13th as part of the Clean Up the Hutt event.

This initiative helps stop plastic from reaching our oceans and makes our waterways cleaner and safer for everyone.

We want to know: Should this be rolled out across all coastal cities in Aotearoa? And more importantly… would you get involved? 💚

Want the details? The Post has you covered.
