Nowhere can I find a red NZ flag. Can anyone enlighten me. Did NZ have a red flag??

Semi-Retired Gent Seeks Unused Tunnel for South African Squash Adventure!

Andrew from Drury

G'day, Drury and surrounds!

G'day, Drury and surrounds!

I'm a semi-retired chap with too much pep in my step, ready to grow some cracking South African faves—BOERPAMOEN and GEM SQUASH, the heart of any proper braai or Sunday lunch. Picture me, trowel in hand, turning your backyard into a squash haven with a bit of Mzansi flair. But I need YOUR help to make it happen!

WHAT I’M AFTER:
An UNUSED TUNNEL or greenhouse in Drury or nearby. A bit rundown? No stress, I’ll spruce it up like my old rugby boots.

WATER ACCESS, preferably rainwater tanks or a little stream I can pump from (who needs council water’s chlorine, right?). Summer rain’s as rare as a quiet All Blacks match, but if you’ve got tanks, I’m all in. I’LL COVER WATER COSTS.

Space for around 200 plants in containers to start, maybe ground planting could be a bonus saving me costs. Just enough to keep me out of the wife’s hair.

THE DEAL:
I do ALL THE WORK—planting, weeding, chasing pests. I’m fitter than half the blokes at the pub, so no worries there.

We can SHARE THE CROP (free squash for your braai, while I sell the rest with my mate Bruce the Juice at markets) or I’ll RENT THE TUNNEL for a fair price—your choice.

Bonus: I’ll keep your tunnel neater than my shed (and that’s saying something!).

WHY ME?
I’ve got 300 Cucurbita pepo and 150 Cucurbita maxima seeds itching to grow. Boerpamoen’s like a huge rugby ball you can eat, and Gem Squash which more cricket ball sized? Perfect stuffed with mince or drowned in butter. I’ll even share a recipe if you’re keen!

CONTACT:
Drop me a PRIVATE MESSAGE here on Neighbourly to chat tunnels, water, or just have a yarn about South African veg. Let’s make Drury the squash capital of Auckland!

Cheers,
Ossie, the Squash Oupa

Poll: What do you do with your stuff when you get the urge to declutter?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Life gets busy—really busy. Between work, family, appointments, and a never-ending to-do list, it’s easy for things to pile up. Add fast fashion, online sales, and homewares aisles that whisper “just one more basket won’t hurt”, and suddenly we’re swimming in stuff and tat.

Sometimes, that stuff is cozy and familiar. But other times, after a long day, you walk through the door, look around, and think: “Okay. Something’s got to go.”

And when that urge to declutter hits, the question is—where does it all go? We're not talking about broken bits and pieces, but those perfectly good things that simply no longer fit your life or your space.

In her piece When decluttering can’t be avoided much longer, Joanna Davis shares the everyday items she's finally ready to part with—and it might just inspire your own clear-out mission.

We want to know:
🧹 How often do you get the urge to declutter?
🎯 Are there certain things you’ve got your eye on to donate or rehome?
💛 Do you have any favourite charities, op-shops, or community organisations you support with your preloved items?

Let’s swap stories, share ideas, and help great stuff find a second life—outside our closets and shelves.
