My Resene Upcycling Award entry

Kim from Aokautere - Fitzherbert

Hi my name is Kim. I recently started making pet houses, tunnels and cat scratches. This is how it all came about. We purchased a flooring business a year ago. I was concerned when I saw the offcuts being thrown away after each carpet install had taken place. I started storing the off cuts away, hoping I would come up with a plan. I also asked the installers to please keep any off cuts aside so that I didn’t have to rummage in the bins. A few months later my fiancé showed me some tubing and asked me if I wanted them. I was delighted as I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I got straight to work and made one for my cat Archie, my sons cat and my daughters cat and dog. They all loved them 🐾. It brings me joy to know that I have saved these things going to the landfill. I am also donating money from each sale to HUHA, I hope this will be a help to them as they do amazing work with animals, please have a look at there website. I would like to thank the staff at flooring design as they have been very supportive. If I was to win this amazing prize I will be donating it to HUHA.

Stolen Pot plants

Audrey from Milson

Last week on my return from a few days away a green 33cm shrub tub of petunias was missing from the front of my garage,
Today a 39cm terracotta tub of orange pansies and a 33cm shrub of pansies was mmissing from alongise my driveway in Fairs Road.
I have reported these losses to the police.
Should anyone notice that neighbours suddenly have pots or tubs of flowers, either call the police or ask them to return them. They know where they got them.
