That one is the "Otorohanga Trekker" to Te Awamutu return, leaving at 4:35pm on Sunday 20th August.
If you tried to book on-line for other trips and found that the train was full, get back in touch at info@steamfest.co.nz - there may be some cancellations.
But ideally, keep watching www.steamfest.co.nz... The website is being updated several times daily.
It has been confirmed that the last and only, oldest, Stanley Steamer automobile will be at Steamfest and might take part in the Train versus Vintage Plane versus Vintage Car Race. This race is from Otorohanga to Te Kuiti Aerodrome on Sunday 20th starting at 11:40am. The 301 seats on the train sold out in days, so a second race has been arranged leaving at 2:30pm also on Sunday 20th August.
This race will have a helicopter - versus train - versus Ford Model T.. The helicopter will be handicapped, and the train must wait at Hangatiki for 5 minutes to let the Northern Explorer pass through, so that might just give the edge to the old Tin Lizzie.
The cars will race to Te Kumi via Old Te Kuiti Road to Hangatiki - then along Hangatiki East Road, that route will have many sections where the rail passengers will have a great view of the cars. It might pay for other cars not in the race, heading to the aerodrome to see the finish, go down SH3 because Hangatiki East road could have lots of parked cars from Railway Enthusiasts setting up photo opportunities at key locations.
The Steamfest Information Phone is 021 117 7514 but it is best to watch the website which is updated several times every day.
