Taranaki Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert, this Saturday

Chris Beath from Taranaki Symphony Orchestra

A feature of the Spring Concert this Saturday at the Theatre Royal, TSB Showplace is the exciting French Horn Concerto No.1 by Richard Strauss. The soloist is our own Jim Scrivener who apart from performing for TSO for over 30 years is also in demand to perform with other orchestras around the North Island and also regularly performs in the pit for operatic shows. This is a great opportunity to hear the French Horn as a solo instrument accompanied by an orchestra in a very popular work.

Our kinda kindness at AMI

AMI Insurance

When a Christchurch school lost four classrooms to fire, retired AMI Branch Manager Philip Buckingham knew how he could help.

Philip – “ When one of our offices is relocated or refitted as a flexi workspace, there are all sorts of useful items left behind — stationery, file cabinets, chairs, desks, computer monitor arms. For years now, we have gathered it all up and donated it to schools; initially those hit particularly hard by the Christchurch earthquakes. It’s hard to explain, but it’s just in our DNA at AMI to help people. After the Russley School fire, there was an urgent need to get the kids some stationery. On my way home, I went to the school and spoke with the principal, Greg Lewis. We couldn’t have asked for a better principal for the school, he is such a great guy.”

Theft of Large Christmas Wreath from Ivy Lane Florist

Wendy from Highlands Park

I am putting this post up on behalf of a friend who owns Ivy Lane Florist at Spotswood. Steph does so much for others and has a community garden in front of her shop for locals and some low life has decided that they wanted it. Please if you see it let Steph know

Feeling gutted / disappointed.
This year I have had a big wreath on display on my entrance wall to the shop ... this morning i get to the shop and it's gone :-(
.
It's been cut right from the top so would have required 2 people, and it's the size of a large hula hoop so someone would have seen
.
We have provided a community garden outside the shop where you are welcome to take herbs and salad ingredients we even have strawberries - dont take my work!
.

Would be nice to get it back ... or I hope someone enjoys their stolen present .
