Residents near a large uncontrolled fire in the Tasman district should be prepared to evacuate their homes.
Tasman District Council communications advisor Chris Choat said the fire was moving "reasonably quickly" and currently covered about 20 hectares.

Tasman District Council communications advisor Chris Choat said the fire was moving "reasonably quickly" and currently covered about 20 hectares.
He has advised anyone living in Teapot Valley or Eves Valley to ready themselves for evacuation, but stressed that it was a precaution at this stage.
Roads in the area have been closed including, Pigeon Valley Rd from Pigeon Valley South Branch Rd, and Dovedale Rd from Brandy Creek Rd. Read more here

All New Zealand police officers will receive new stab- and bullet-proof vests in a $20 million roll-out over the next three-and-a-half years.
The current vests - which were introduced in 2006 - are stab-proof, but special vests are worn by any officers involved in firearms call-outs.
They have passed their warranty, but remain "safe and fit for purpose", says Police Commissioner Mike Bush.
