Birthday for the Horses!

Jim Kennard from Whakatu Riding for the Disabled Association

Woohoo! It is that time of year again! When we give our horses who have worked hard all year, helping those many children and adults who have mobility and coordination problems to build their strengths and confidence, are given a treat.
Yes! They have a birhday cake, one for each of them, and they love it!
Come on down and see them on Saturday 4 August from about 10:00 am, they will put on a display of their work with some willing volunteers. A lot of fun is had by all. If you don't know where the RDA is located, it is at the top of the Brook Valley on Tantragee Road. Kids will love meeting the horses. Mark it on your calendar now!!!
If you are too busy but would like to give them a birthday present, then you can donate through our givealittle site.
It will be a lovely day and we hope to see you there!

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!

Calling all those in Wheelchairs

Simon from Stoke

Hi, I'm Simon .... a 44 yr old wheelchair user who wants to meet others in a similar position as myself (particularly a woman). I've been a sole parent now for almost 18 years and my son has just left the nest, so I thought it was time to start on the next stage of my life. I have cerebral palsy that effects just my legs (kinda the reason I can't walk) sooooooo if any of you are interested in getting to know me, flick me a message. I enjoy spending time with my son when he comes to visit and my pets (1 cat and 2 birds), I also enjoy building computers as well as a bit of gaming/watching TV too. So if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, shoot me a message.
