Homemade Insect Repellents

Way Of Life Health Shop

I heard a mosquito for the first time last night and went hunting for a repellent. It is that time of year again! Making your own repellent is simple and can make lovely personalised gifts. Good essential oils to use are:
* Lemon Eucalyptus
* Lavender
* Cinnamon
* Citronella
* Thyme
* Tea Tree
* Neem
* Geranium
Put together in a spray bottle:
- around 50 drops of essential oils of choice
- 1tblsp vodka
- 50 mls witch hazel
- 50 mls of water or vinegar
- Optional is 1 tsp of vegetable glycerin, which helps the mix to stay combined, but isn't necessary.
Shake well to combine.
Shake before use and spray on as required.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
