PROPOSED TRIAL OF REDUCED ACCESS TO ELIZABETH STREET AT THE HILL ST INTERSECTION STARTING 7th NOVEMBER
Can I suggest that those voting in the Neighbourly poll, with regard to the above temporary changes to the Hill St intersection, consider the effect of this being implemented over such a busy period? Simplifying the number of movements may well be less confusing, & is worth trialing, but surely NOW is not the time to try this out! I assume that we are targeting the busy summer holiday commuters. many of whom will have no idea about this until they actually get to the said intersection & find that they can no longer access the township where they had planned to do so. What a recipe for disaster! I think the resulting confusion & frustration will be dangerous to say the least.
Surely these changes should be brought in with several months of media input (radio/Herald/Rodney Times etc) & not until the winter months when weekend traffic flow is at it's quietest. At least consider the timing of this trial, before you vote. It may be a great idea, but is it a great idea starting in a week?????

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
